Join the Midnight Club 2 Club! That's the organization we just invented whose sole membership requirement is ownership of Midnight Club 2. It's exceptionally easy to join right now, as Rockstar is handing out free copies to anyone who joins the Rockstar Community on Steam.
Your account must have at least one purchase or gift in it – basically, proof that you're a real person who really plays games. And you can't already have Midnight Club 2. Trendy offering real money for best Dungeon Defenders maps

Trendy Entertainment, the dev behind Dungeon Defenders, is looking to beef up the offerings from that game's free development kit. It's holding a contest, in which it's giving away some real money and prize packs for the best maps made for the game.

To enter, all you have to do is put a map together for the tower defense RPG (here's a guide.) Submit your map to Trendy by June 21, and if it wins both a public vote and a judges' vote you can walk away with $1000, and even get your map included in the game.

The full rules and requirements are over on Trendy's forums. Those of us without any design skills at all will just sit here quietly waiting to see what you put together. Don't mind us.

OFF! - ''King Kong Brigade'' (MP3 download)

Sound it Out # 23: OFF! - "King Kong Brigade"
OFF! is a band full of Southern California punk rock royalty: Keith Morris (Black Flag, Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Steven McDonald (Redd Kross) and Mario Rubalcaba (Hot Snakes/Earthless/Rocket From The Crypt). Their new, self-titled album comes out on May 8. It has sixteen songs and is sixteen minutes long. So at 1:36, "King Kong Brigade" is relatively epic
The OFF! record also boasts excellent cover art by Raymond Pettibon.

Download "King Kong Brigade" and rock the fuck out.

BrowserQuest - Massively Multiplayer HTML5 Game Demo

The Mozilla Foundation is on a kick to show people just how amazing HTML5 can be, and to that end, they're releasing a series of free, open, ambitious in-browser apps to inspire developers and users. The latest of these is BrowserQuest, a multiplayer online role-playing game built completely out of native HTML, with no plugins, and with sourcecode for your learning, tweaking, and repurposing pleasure.

BrowserQuest is a tribute to classic video-games with a multiplayer twist. You play as a young warrior driven by the thrill of adventure. No princess to save here, just a dangerous world filled with treasures to discover. And it’s all done in glorious HTML5 and JavaScript.
BrowserQuest can be played by thousands of simultaneous players, distributed across different instances of the in-game world. Click on the population counter at any time to know exactly how many total players are currently online.
Players can see and interact with each other by using an in-game chat system. They can also team up and fight enemies together.

And we thought dual wielding was cool. With the Arsenal Firearms Double Barrel Pistol ($TBA), you can fire two bullets with a single hand. Built in part to commemorate the Colt 1911-A1, this new pistol — given the model number AF2011-A1 — shoots two .45 caliber rounds at a time, accurately, and spaced incredibly close — at 15 yards, both rounds will fit into an orange — yet still manages to use a number of interchangeable internal parts, which can be swapped with standard 1911 replacement parts. Available in silver or black finishes.

New Hawken gameplay teaser doesn't look like an indie game

Hawken, the free-to-play, first-person mech shooter from indie studio Adhesive Games, keeps looking better and better, especially now that its videos have lost the "this is a work in progress" warning. We guess raising $10 million will do that to a game. The latest teaser shows off gameplay during an intense battle from the inside of a mech suit that makes two things occupy our thoughts: rails guns and rockets.
Watch the teaser above and enlist in the Hawken beta right here.

All right guys, here's the plan: You see that game over there, Payday: The Heist? Well we're gonna boost it. First, we have to get past the 18 layers of invisible infrared lasers that line the hallway leading to the safe room. Concord will be introducing his own beams into the system, so if all goes according to plan, those should be no problem..

After that, Harwell is going to use a complicated system of ropes and pulleys to suspend ... What? What do you mean, "Payday: The Heist is free on Steam until 4 PM Eastern, March 4." Patsy, I spent weeks putting this job together. Fine, you know what? You're all fired

Mojang acquires Minecraft mod makers, will make mods official

Mojang acquires Minecraft mod makers, will make mods official
by Mike Schramm (1 day ago)
26

The four main developers behind Bukkit, a popular set of unofficial modifications for Minecraft servers, have been hired on by Mojang, makers of the uber popular block-world simulator. Mojang says Warren Loo, Erik Broes, Nathan Adams and Nathan Gilbert will join the company to update Bukkit and make it more compatible with the next version of the game, and to enable support other server mods in the future.

Loo writes on the official forms that the team will basically redesign the game's API, which means unofficial developers everywhere will be able to hook into the game's mechanics much more easily and smoothly. Mojang points out that there are a few teams that have made popular mods for the game, including Spout and Forge, but the Bukkit team was chosen because they've developed specifically for Minecraft servers. The plan is to have them working on "more than just modding."

Obviously, the gentlemen are quite excited about joining the Mojang guys. That tends to happen when a company whose game you work on for free decides to start paying you in real money.
